1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-imidazole CAS number is 3034-41-1, his synthesis methods are mainly include two:
The first one: diethyl oxalate and monomethylamine gas are aminated in absolute ethanol to obtain acetyl dimethylamine, acetyl dimethylamine and pentamine pentachloride are cyclized, chlorinated, extracted with chloroform, and distilled under reduced pressure. 1-Methylimidazole, 1-methylimidazole is nitrated by a mixed acid of sulfuric acid and nitric acid to give1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-imidazole CAS 3034-41-1.
In the above synthetic route, there are several disadvantages: (1). Inconvenient use of monomethylamine gas during the reaction; (2). Purification by distillation separation is difficult because the chloroform extract becomes very viscous after being evaporated by chloroform. The boiling point is very high, and it is easy to be decomposed into coke during the distillation process. High vacuum is required to distill the product, which not only wastes energy, but also has high requirements on equipment in industrial production, and the yield is low and the cost is high. (3). The reaction of mixed acid nitration is intense, which inevitably causes the decomposition of nitric acid, which causes the nitrous oxide gas to pollute the environment. At the same time, local reaction overheating may cause side reactions, resulting in lower yield, poor quality, and post-treatment. It produces more waste acid, which is not conducive to environmental protection. In addition, although there is a method of re-nitrating after salt formation, the concentration of nitric acid is required to be 95% or more, and acetic acid is introduced during nitrification, and nitrous oxide gas is still generated during the experiment, which causes pollution to the environment.
The second type: 1-methylimidazole is mixed with nitric acid and then azeotropically dehydrated in toluene to obtain 1-methylimidazole nitrate, and then 1-methylimidazole nitrate is nitrated to obtain 1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-imidazole CAS 3034-41-1. This method greatly reduces the emission of harmful gases such as nitrogen oxides, is environmentally friendly, and has high product yield and good quality. The solvent and extractant can be recycled, and the production cost is low, and is particularly suitable for industrial production.
